“It’s not concrete, neither wood nor stone, not even steel or glass the most resistant element.
The most resistant material in building is art!”
Gio Ponti
Wallpapers and colors
There are people who love white and those who love the colors, those who love pure surfaces and those who prefer decoration. It is true, the ancients stated: de gustibus non disputandum est. But here we are confessing our weakness for colors, for wallpapers, as much as it is able to make an emotion, a smile, a thought. It is always a matter of balance, relationships, correct redundancies between color and white, between full and void, between style and function. The psychology of perception teaches and tells us that the environment where we live strongly influences our moods, and every color, every object we see, is capable of interacting with our psychophysical well-being. There are no inanimate objects, if we are related to them, as there are no spaces which are impersonal boxes.
The relationship with space, either conscious or unconscious, is constant, it always happens. We should be able to shift our focus to ourselves: we paint the houses with our colors. Do you like white? Let’s go white! if it corresponds to yourselves, without letting the Nordic attitude carry you away. We learn to question our dogmas, our certainties. The essential value, in every change of interior design, is respect for oneself. And sometimes, in order to learn more about yourself, you need an outer eye, to give us a hand to have a broader view, from a different perspective. The most interesting solutions are often generated from a synthesis of ideas, from an unexpected cultural comparison.
